The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) provides reasonable and appropriate test accommodations to those who demonstrate a need and make a timely request. Test accommodations can be provided in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA), for breastfeeding mothers, or for those who need to bring a personal item into an examination room, such as a medical device, medication, or comfort aid.
To request an accommodation, apply for your exam and your accommodation as early as possible during the application period, even if accommodations were received on a prior exam. You will not be able to schedule your exam until your request is either approved or withdrawn. Download our checklist for requesting test accommodations [1] (PDF).

The deadline to receive the request form for Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Medical Toxicology, Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Pediatric Transplant Hepatology, Sleep Medicine, and Sports Medicine exams is the same as the registration deadline. Please contact [4] the ABP if you have questions.
Submit the Breastfeeding Form to request 30 minutes of additional break time, per scheduled break, during the exam. Breast pumps may be stored in a personal locker, or stored at the testing center administrative desk.
Submit the Personal Item Form if you can demonstrate a need to bring a personal item [7] into an exam room, such as a medical device, medication, or comfort aid that is not already listed as permitted on Prometric’s Pre-Approved Personal Items list [8] (PDF).
