In April 2013, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) welcomed Virginia A. Moyer, MD, MPH, as its new Vice President for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and Quality. Dr. Moyer succeeds Paul V. Miles, MD, who retires in June 2013 after an 11-year tenure at the ABP.

Dr. Moyer "has the knowledge, passion, and skills to lead the effort to take the ABP's MOC program to the next level," Dr. Miles said. Dr. Moyer brings a full set of experiences to the ABP that includes primary care pediatric practice in underserved areas, academic leadership as a professor and editor of major pediatric journals, and policy direction as chairperson of the US Preventive Services Task Force.

The Federation of Pediatric Organizations announced Renee R. Jenkins, MD, FAAP, as the 2013 recipient of the Joseph W. St. Geme, Jr. Leadership Award. The award, given in honor of Dr. St. Geme, recognizes an individual who is a leader in the field of pediatrics, a role model, one who has contributed broadly to the field, and most important, "created a future."

Dr. Jenkins will receive this award on Saturday, May 4, 2013 during the Opening Session of the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting in Washington, DC.
