Dr. Richard Leonards, a retired pediatrician who served on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) for 23 years, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013. He was 88.
Dr. Richard LeonardsA California native, his passion for medicine led him to UCLA for his undergraduate studies and Stanford University for his medical degree. Dr. Leonards also served on the Board of Directors for the California Pacific Medical Center and as Vice Chief of Pediatrics and Acting Chief of Pediatrics.
He is survived by three daughters, Tanya Renner, Janet Leonards, and Elizabeth Ekenstedt, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
