Pediatric Milestones Video Explains Importance of Project

Tuesday, January 28, 2014 - 00:00

Still have questions about the Pediatric Milestones Project, created by The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)?

Answers are available in a new video, starring Mark Batshaw, MD, Physician-In-Chief and Chief Academic Officer at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. In the six-minute video, Dr. Batshaw explains the focus and process of the Pediatric Milestones Project.

Over the past decade, ACGME and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) have introduced six domains of clinical competency within milestones. These domains help structure and define the significance of milestones:

  • Patient care
  • Systems-based practice
  • Practice-based learning
  • Professionalism
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Medical knowledge

The new video helps explain how these milestones apply to pediatrics.
