MOCA-Peds Mobile Application Takes Hiatus

MOCA-Peds logoOn Nov. 5, 2020, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) took down its MOCA-Peds mobile app for an extended period of evaluation and maintenance. The app, formerly available at the App Store and Google Play, provided a smartphone or tablet option for pediatricians who participate in the MOCA-Peds online assessment to maintain their certification.

While the mobile app is on hiatus, MOCA-Peds participants will continue to answer MOCA-Peds questions in a browser on their desktop or laptop computers. Only smartphone and tablet use are impacted and not supported.

“The decision to press pause on the mobile app was not an easy one,” says Linda Althouse, PhD, Vice President for Assessment at the ABP. “But after listening to feedback from some of the participants about their experiences, we believe the decision to shut down the app was the right one to make at this time.”

Taking down the app aligns with the ABP’s core values of consistency, excellence, reliability, and transparency.

“We don’t know how long this evaluation and work will take,” says David G. Nichols, MD, MBA, President and CEO, “but I promise we will use this extended maintenance period to improve our mobile services.”

Until further notice, MOCA-Peds participants should log in to their ABP Portfolio or visit mocapeds.abp.org to answer their quarterly questions. MOCA-Peds questions that have already been answered on the app are recorded and available for participants to view in the browser version of MOCA-Peds on a desktop or laptop computer.
