Research

Since 1999, the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) has supported research to inform its core mission. Research topics are identified through a strategic planning process with our boards, committees, and tasks forces.

Research topics include:

  • Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) and milestones
  • Health care delivery trends and their impact
  • MOCA-Peds pilot
  • Parent and public perceptions
  • Pediatric workforce trends
  • Psychometric assessment
  • Trainee education

The majority of research is conducted by external research centers in conjunction with senior staff at the ABP and is funded through the ABP Foundation. The ABP Foundation funds projects that align with the mission of the ABP, and aim to improve outcomes for infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.

Oversight of any research funded by the ABP Foundation is provided by the ABP Research Advisory Committeeand the ABP Foundation Board of Directors.
