What is the difference between the Program Portal and ABP Portfolio?

Program Portal: Program directors and coordinators may manage their program’s demographic information, view reports of their trainees’ performances on ABP in-training and certification examinations, and order and pay for General Pediatrics In-Training Examination (ITE).

ABP Portfolio: The physician’s personal account used to view personal information related to meeting ABP’s requirements for initial certification and Maintenance of Certification, examination scores, and applying for examinations.

How do I recover my username and/or password?

Please select the ‘Forgot Username or Password?’ link and provide the requested information. An email containing your username will be sent to the email address on file that you provided in the Program Portal. Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.

How do I change my email if I no longer have access to the email I initially provided to receive program-related communication?

You must contact the ABP by calling 919-929-0461.

How do I assign and manage my program coordinator’s privileges?

The program director must assign the program coordinator access to the Program Portal. Privileges are then assigned by clicking the "Modify" button located in the upper left-hand box (that contains your contact information) on the dashboard. Under Program Coordinator, you will click on “Edit” to assign permissions to your coordinator, including:

  • Order In-Training Exams (ITE)
  • View Reports
  • Manage Profiles
  • Manage Trainees
  • View Communications

May I change my program coordinator’s privileges?

Yes. You may modify your program coordinator’s privileges as needed.

May I assign multiple coordinators to have access to my program’s information?

No, the ABP allows each program director to assign privileges to only one coordinator per discipline.

Why does the ABP collect demographic information for program coordinators?

Demographic information is necessary for account management. The ABP uses this information to authenticate authorized users during the username recovery and password reset process.

May I order additional General Pediatrics In-Training Examinations after the published registration deadline?

No. Programs may order additional examinations through the published deadline. Please note each additional order will display as a new order. The prior order(s) is/are viewable under "Order History."

What are the accepted methods of payment for the General Pediatrics In-Training Examination (ITE)?

Paper checks are not accepted. The ABP accepts Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, eCheck and electronic funds transfers (EFT). EFT payments may require the ABP to register as an accepted electronic payment vendor for your organization. Your accounting department may contact for more information.

How can I forward my program’s invoice for payment to our accounting department?

Choose the "Forward Invoice for Payment" option. The person receiving the invoice will be sent an email with a link to make payment for ITE. Payment must be submitted via the link provided in the email. ITE invoices forwarded for payment must be paid in full 30 days from the order date.

Can the proctoring responsibilities be delegated to an alternate chief proctor?

Yes. During the ordering process, the ABP collects information regarding who will serve as a proctor for ITE. The program director or coordinator of the pediatrics program must add or remove proctors via the Program Portal.  Each proctor identified in the portal will receive an email from the ABP with a Proctor Agreement, describing the functions and expectations of a proctor. The ABP must receive an acceptance response from the chief proctor and any additional proctoring staff attesting to their having read and understood the terms of the Proctor Agreement. Proctors will also receive detailed instructions regarding the administration of the examination, including the Proctor’s Guidebook, seating diagram, and a link to the internet-based portal, Program Workshop.

Will I have access to my previous program director reports?

General Pediatrics Program Directors:  Program reports for the General Pediatrics Certifying Examination administered in 2015 and thereafter are accessible via the Program Portal.

Pediatric Subspecialty Program Directors:  Reports for your fellows’ performance on the Subspecialty In-Training Examination (SITE) given before 2016 are accessible via your ABP Portfolio by clicking the "My Program Director Resources" link. Fellows’ performances on the initial subspecialty certification examination administered in fall 2015 and 2016 SITE and thereafter are accessible via the Program Portal.

How will I know when reports for my program are available?

An email will be sent to programs announcing the release of reports in the Program Portal. Reports are usually available two to three months after administration. Your coordinator will have access to program reports if you have given him/her the privilege to view reports.

IMPORTANT: Please note SITE results prior to 2015 are available only via the ABP Portfolio. Coordinators do not have access to the ABP Portfolio. Therefore, if you provide your coordinator your confidential login information, he/she will have access to your personal certification information, if applicable.
