Professional Standing and Licensure (Part 1) of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) — the easiest part to achieve for most pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists — includes:
The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) requires that pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists hold a valid, unrestricted allopathic and/or osteopathic medical license in at least one jurisdiction in the United States, its territories or Canada.
Diplomates must inform the Board in writing immediately upon any change in licensure status, including any restriction (disciplinary or not) placed on any medical license held.
The ABP receives periodic Disciplinary Action Notification reports from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), listing the actions by states against individual medical licenses.
