Medicine-Pediatrics Program

A special agreement exists with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) whereby an applicant may fulfill the training requirements of both the ABP and by completing 2 years of accredited training in general comprehensive pediatrics and 2 years of accredited training in general comprehensive internal medicine in an integrated program. An applicant may not take the certifying examination of the ABP until all 4 years of training have been successfully completed.

Combined internal medicine-pediatrics training must be undertaken in combined internal medicine-pediatrics training programs accredited by the ACGME.

The program requirements for training in internal medicine-pediatrics and a list of accredited programs are available on the ACGME Web site.
