Exam Pass Rates

Initial Certification and Maintenance of Certification Exam Pass Rates

The exam pass rate reports show the number of candidates who have taken an initial certification or Maintenance of Certification examination for the first time, and the percentage of those who passed. The data include passing rates for General Pediatrics and pediatric subspecialty exams from the past five years. Please note that the numbers of MOC test-takers were noticeably smaller in 2017-2019 than in previous years because the majority of those certified in General Pediatrics whose MOC Part 3 exams were due in 2017–2018 participated in the MOCA-Peds pilot program. In 2019, the majority of the pediatricians certified in General Pediatrics, Child Abuse Pediatrics, Gastroenterology, and Infectious Diseases — who also have an exam due in this cycle — chose MOCA-Peds to fulfill their MOC Part 3 requirements. Exam requirements for each of the other pediatric subspecialties have been deferred until MOCA-Peds becomes available for that subspecialty.
