Earning Points in Your MOC Cycle

During each five-year cycle, board-certified pediatricians must earn a minimum of 100 points. Fifty (50) of the points must come from approved Part 2 (Self-Assessment) activities and 50 must come from approved Part 4 (Quality Improvement) activities. In other words:

50 Part 2 points
+ 50 Part 4 points
= 100 total points

You can complete your Part 2 and Part 4 activities any time during your 5-year MOC cycle. In the final year of each cycle, you enroll again and make a payment to begin your next MOC cycle.

To get more ideas about your options, check out the Part 2 and Part 4 sections of this website. To review your MOC requirements and deadlines, start activities to earn points, and see where you stand, log in to your ABP Portfolio.

Rollover Points

Will you have extra Part 4 points at the end of your cycle? Don't worry! You can roll over up to 25 excess Part 4 points from one cycle to the next. For example, if you have 75 or more Part 4 points in your current cycle, you will automatically begin the next cycle with 25 Part 4 points. This policy was created to reward pediatricians who earn more points than they need and to offer flexibility to those who have the opportunity to work ahead.

Part 2 (Self-Assessment) points are not eligible to be rolled over.
