CME Credit for MOC

The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) is not a CME-awarding organization; however, board-certified pediatricians may apply for CME credit and/or a Physician Recognition Award certificate directly through the American Medical Association (AMA) for the completion of a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) cycle.

The following information has been provided to the ABP by the AMA. Questions about credit applications or the application process should be directed to the AMA at pra@ama-assn.org.

Physicians may submit an application requesting AMA Physician Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 Credits™ for successful completion of their MOC cycle.

  • Eligible for 60 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
  • Certifications must occur on or after September 1, 2010.
  • The application must include a copy of the specialty board notification letter.

In recognition of their commitment to lifelong learning, physicians also may apply for a three-year PRA certificate for successful completion of their MOC cycle. The certificate does not include the awarding of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

  • Physicians requesting a PRA certificate should complete a PRA application on the AMA website.
  • The application must include a copy of the specialty board notification letter.

More information, including applications for direct credit, can be obtained from the AMA website, or by contacting the Unified Service Center at 1-800-621-8335.
